French is taught in Year 3 and will be rolled out to year 4 in September 2008. By 2010 all pupils in KS2 will receive 1 hour 30 minutes French each week. The learning has 3 core strands: Oracy,Literacy and Intercultural understanding.

Along with this are strands which address knowledge of langauge and language learning strategies.

In 2008-9 St John's primary School will host a French "language assistante" to work with the children and teachers.
